NPLQ QUALIFIED LIFEGUARD

Lifeguards are team members trained in accident prevention, rescue and first aid. Individuals should be able to work as part of a team and communicate effectively.

Applicants MUST possess a valid National Pool, RLSS or NaRS Lifeguard qualification or equivalent

Hours
Varying shift patterns are available including evenings and weekends, Bank Holidays.

Primary Objectives

To prevent accidents through proactive supervision, and by maintaining a disciplined but relaxed safe environment for our guests. To educate pool users in adopting the correct code of behaviour whilst using our facilities

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To ensure that queues for the rides and tyres remain orderly and are initiated when required
  • Ensure that customers adopt the correct riding position at the start of the rides
  • To ensure that customers use the traffic light control system correctly
  • To ensure that customers are dispatched one at a time, and that they do not link or chain down any of the rides
  • Offers advice and assistance to customers when required assisting to educate pool users in water safety within the water park
  • Communicate with pool users and colleagues when performing these tasks
  • Monitors and prevents customers from wearing jewellery, spectacles and goggles
  • To maintain a clean and safe environment in the changing room and toilets
  • Educating pool users in water safety and the pool rules through effective communication
  • Maintaining discipline within the queues and on the start platforms of the rides through effective communication
  • Implementing the pool rules and safety operating procedures
  • Educating pool users in water safety and the pool rules through effective communication

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Staff will keep a close watch over the pools and its users to anticipate problems
  • Identify emergencies quickly and take appropriate action
  • Supervises pool activity when required
  • Carry out rescues and other emergency action when necessary
  • Gives immediate first aid to any casualty
  • Communicate with pool users and colleagues when performing these tasks

Skills Required
Applicants MUST possess a valid National Pool, RLSS or NaRS Lifeguard qualification or equivalent. Applicants MUST meet the following basic fitness criteria: -

  • Jump/Dive into deep water
  • Swim 50m in less than 60 seconds
  • Swim 100m continuously on your front and back
  • Tread water in deep water for at least 30 seconds
  • Surface dive to the floor of the pool
  • Climb out of the pool unaided without the use of ladders or steps

Training and Assessment

  • Applicants must attend 1 staff training session per month
  • Applicants must keep their NPLQ qualification up to date and valid
